Overview

Currently being used in more than 2000 schools across Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada and the United States, the EDUCATION FOR PEACE CURRICULUM MANUAL is designed as a conceptual and practical guide for educators and policy makers at primary, secondary, and higher education levels. The Manual presents 10 units on concepts that are integral to a comprehensive approach to creating a culture of peace, a culture of healing, and a culture of excellence in our school communities. The text covers, among other themes, the concepts of oneness of humanity, unity in diversity, and human rights and responsibilities, as well as the skills of peace-based conflict resolution, leadership for peace, and creating environments conducive to psychosocial recovery from the destructive impacts of conflict and violence.Each unit includes educational tools for teachers, including: - Core concept summaries - Key questions for understanding - Interdisciplinary lesson samples and activity ideas - Tips for effective classroom instruction - Reflection and assessment guides - Links to online sources for further exploration of key themes Available companion resources include the EDUCATION FOR PEACE STUDENT MANUAL (vols. 1 & 2), and the interactive e-learning CD-Rom for students, EFP-WORLD.
