Edexcel GCSE Drama Study Guide

Overview

Alongside practical exercises, the guide contains suggestions for further reading and individual research, supporting you in both the theoretical and practical demands of the course. A chapter on understanding the theatre offers suggestions on how to use this knowledge in your own practical work. Chapters on Unit 1 and Unit 2 offer plenty of ideas for practical exploration and give invaluable advice on how to structure your written work, including advice on what to look out for when watching and analysing a live performance and writing an evaluation. The requirements for Unit 3 are examined in detail, with practical ideas for performance, design and improving your technical skills, plus ideas for devising your own work. The role of the designer is also examined through an online downloadable resource pack with focus on lighting, costume, sound, mask and make up, and set and prop design. Diagrams and images complement the text, making the information more accessible and helping you understand how to use it practically in your own work. A glossary and a subject knowledge audit are also included, giving you everything you need to work towards a better grade and become an independent theatre practitioner in your own right.

Natalie Martin, Meadowhead School, Sheffield 'At last a book that attempts to cover all of the ever-changing, but equally extensive Edexcel GCSE Drama course.' Rob Chandler, Learning Leader for Performing Arts, Fairfield High School
