OverviewWater resources in Gambella City experience a possible threat to sustainability due to human induced activities that lead to water quality change. Communities are seeking alternatives to improve water quality in Gambella City. This study assessed the communities' willingness-to-pay (WTP) for improved domestic water supply and factors influencing households' willingness to pay decision. The research findings clearly indicated that aggregate willingness to pay is sufficient to support conservation of Baro River for improved domestic water supply service. Therefore, participatory water resource management policy framework should be designed considering the socio-economic factors for improving domestic water supply service from Baro River.
