OverviewSix international economists examine China's growth and global development initiatives. Since the reforms of 1978, China has experienced an explosion of growth that radically transformed not only the country's economy and society but also the global economic and strategic landscape. For decades, China's economy expanded at an average annual rate of 10%-an unprecedented phenomenon. While other Asian nations like Japan and South Korea also underwent periods of rapid transformation, China's vast economic scale created a far greater global impact. This book examines China's economic development through the lens of five leading economists from outside China. It explores both the internal dynamics and external ramifications of China's rise over the past 40 years-up to the present day, as the country faces mounting challenges and uncertainty stemming from the U.S.'s ongoing economic and trade pressures.
