Overview

"Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a systematic approach defined as ""the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values in direct patient care"". The aims of EBM are to apply the best available research evidence to clinical decision making, and to assess the strength of evidence of the risks and benefits of treatments and diagnostic tests. In this era of evidence-based health care, both researchers and clinicians need to master EBM in order to critically appraise the medical research, and to judge the implications of reported results.
