OverviewThis self-hypnosis technique differs from others in that you offer yourself the suggestion PRIOR to entering hypnosis and allowing it to enter your subconscious mind. In some other techniques, you hypnotise yourself first before making the suggestion. You are reducing the hypnotic state when you make suggestions to yourself because you are engaging your aware mind. With this technique for self-hypnosis, you offer yourself the suggestion before you fall asleep; as a result, the suggestion enters the subconscious mind without being processed by the conscious critical mind. I did not ""create"" this self-hypnosis technique. In his book Master Course in Hypnotism, Harry Arons introduced the concept of making a suggestion to yourself before entering hypnosis. Harry, who I knew well, gave me his approval to utilise this self-hypnosis technique. I've used his approach with some of my own modifications. I instruct all of my clients in this self-hypnosis technique, as well as the students I certify.
