"Monna Ellithorpe started quilting in 1985 after watching and learning from a friend. The more she watched and asked questions, the more she liked the idea of cutting out those pieces and putting back them back together like ""puzzle pieces."" After many failed attempts at making a Double Wedding ring quilt by traditional methods, she decided there had to be an easier and faster way to do this. Everyone else had a ""short-cut"" method to speed up the piecing process, so why not this particular pattern? She finally created this easier method to make a double wedding ring faster and able to be put together block by block and using the ""quilt as you go"" method if preferred.
