Great Read...excellent book and easy to understand...value for money... Ruby D. Amazon Reviewer. Based on a review of Volume 1. Do you like things to be simple? If you do, you will love this book. It is a compelling selection of back to basics , easy to read, argumentative essays, that are mostly free of scary jargon. Is it for you? Yes, if you have a little knowledge of counselling theory or practice and it is ideal for those of you at, a mature age, studying GCSE or A levels. What makes a good counsellor? Take this excerpt from Assignment 1, ...a valuable and effective counsellor is, one of high ethical standards, a good listener, has empathy, and holds the client in absolute positive regard... Written from a Humanistic/Integrative, theoretical perspective, it has you the reader in mind throughout the essays. A simple, uncomplicated, refreshing introduction to the fundamentals of counselling that should provide the knowledge and skills necessary for further study. It is also an informative guide to counselling for those of you, who simply wish to have a greater understanding of oneself or others. The assignments include: eating disorders; anxiety; depression; phobias; self harm; sexuality; case studies;session plans and lots more! Author Information

Initially from rural Surrey - Francis now lives in the Midlands of the UK, with his flea infested moggie. After attending boarding school in Guildford, he went on to Portsmouth University, where he achieved a degree in Social Sciences. Francis has taught English in the UK and Greece, where the children were impeccably well behaved and the Principals were ill disciplined! Francis is a member of the BACP and holds a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy. Francis' therapeutic approach is Humanistic and Integrative. His counselling experience began at a university night call service, for distressed students. Francis has been a face-to-face, online and phone counsellor - specialising in self harm. Francis's strangest experience was in a jungle village in the Philippines, where he lived along-side monkeys, Cobras and wide smiling guys with pump - action shotguns!
