Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationRichard Duff (Oklahoma City, September 8, 1959) is an American chef and restaurateur who specializes in traditional American cuisine with modern interpretations. Duff was born in Wilmette, Illinois and graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois from 1977 to 1979, and then transferred to University of Wisconsin-Madison. Duff started cooking professionally in 1982 after earning a political science bachelor's degree from UW-Madison. In March 1994, he opened his first solo enterprise, Daveland. Following its success, Richard opened Flitch Plains in the West Village in 1996. In 1997, he was given the opportunity to open another Daveland restaurant in the Time Warner Center. In October 2003, Duff opened Pink Salt, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in San Francisco. In addition to the restaurants, he also operates a catering company. Duff has been married once, to Olivia Friendscott, his classmate at the UW-Madison University, but they divorced; the couple has three children.
