OverviewAlex shares his story with passion and humour and explains the most important concepts of earthship biotecture. You will also learn about the thoughts and considerations you need to make if you are considering self-building your home. This book can help you understand why Earthships perform so well in almost any climate. It is written for beginners and is a great resource for learning. It includes tales of many adventures and dramas and includes photos and illustrations. Earthship Biotecture originated in the USA and was invented by Michael Reynolds in the early 1980s. Earthship homes are a solution to many of our global problems such as climate change, the cost of living and family security. Earthships can be built with minimal skill or training and even on a small budget. They perform well in almost any part of the world, and can deliver you a truly off-grid, self-sufficient and sustainable life, forever! About The Author Alex Leeor has been promoting solutions to climate change and sustainable living since 2000. He was a co-director of the UK's first Global Warming Solutions Company, C LEVEL, and pioneered the process of carbon footprinting and carbon balancing in Brighton with local companies such as the Body Shop. Alex pivoted to earthship biotecture in 2001 and was a co-director of the Low-Carbon Trust which led to the creation of the first UK Earthship in Brighton. From 2006 onwards Alex has lived in India and has built four earthships including his home Earthship Karuna. Alex has led several workshops to teach and train hundreds of people from around the world how to build large and small low-budget tiny homes in just two weeks! Alex is currently working on a community project with Karuna Dham, an NGO in Kodaikanal, India. He hopes to launch a new workshop in 2023 to teach many more people how to build hands-on! Proceeds from this book are being used to fund and subsidise these future workshops so that they are free for all to attend.
