Christopher Butler is Tutor in English Literature and Curator of Pictures, Christ Church, Oxford. He is the author of Interpretation, Deconstruction, and Ideology (Clarendon Paperback, 1984) and of After the Wake: An Essay on the Contemporary Avant-Garde (Clarendon Press, 1980).
