OverviewThe creative process is often accompanied by some sort of compulsion. This is what is sometimes known as the creative urge. And so it was with my poem Ear Pieces The compulsion was to explain what had happened - a diagnosis of hearing loss - and the urge took the form of a poem. A traditional, linear, almost accepted, progression from perceived 'perfection' to imperfection, from 'full faculty' to 'impairment'.
