OverviewGeorgios Karaiskakis (January 23, 1780 - April 23, 1827) was one of the two greatest Chieftains that led the Greek revolution - War of Independence, against the Ottoman Empire in 1821. Born as an illegitimate son to Zoe Dimiski, he used this disadvantage to his benefit. Even though society did not expect much of him, since he was born of an unknown father, he became the greatest revolutionary figure of central Greece, an area otherwise known as Sterea Hellas or Rumeli. He lead the Greek rebels to many victorious battles against the Turkish empire. This is the story of his upbringing.
