She holds a second masters degree from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in elementary education. She participated in a summer program at Berea College to learn multisensory teaching based on Orton/Gillingham methods. Having developed a passion for persons with dyslexia, she helped found the Dyslexia Association of the Pennyrile, located in Hopkinsville, KY, which is an organization dedicated to helping persons with dyslexia. Having found her mission in life, she continues as Executive Director after forty-three years. She conducts dyslexia workshops and has been an adjunct professor at Hopkinsville Community College.
