OverviewThe transfer of the latest scientific results to commercial innovation has become a crucial factor in today's markets. This implies that competitiveness in modern technologies is no longer the responsibility of the manufacturing industry alone, but that it involves a mutual interdependence with the largely publicly financed science institutions. This volume presents the state-of-the-art in this interesting and growing field between (economic) innovation research and the sociology of science. It is organized in three sections. Part 1 describes advanced methodologies (patent analysis, bibliometrics, cluster analysis and cognitive cartography, for example).
