James Joyce (1882-1941) was born in Dublin. He proved to be a very bright student and eventually attended University College Dublin. Joyce spent most of his adulthood abroad, emigrating to Europe with Nora Barnacle, whom he later married. A poet, playwright and journalist, Joyce's other best-known works include Dubliners and Finnegans Wake.
