Author Information

Author Ronald (Ron) Long was born and raised in the Ozark Hills of Southern Missouri. After graduating from high school, Ron attended college at Central Missouri State University (CMSU) where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and later entered the CMSU Master's program. In his second year of college, Ron diverted his goal of attending law school to that of focusing on a law enforcement career. After graduating from CMSU, he accepted a full-time position with the St. Robert, Missouri Police Department, where the author's exhilarating law enforcement career began. Two years later, Ron moved to Texas where he spent 26 years of combined service with the Arlington Police Department, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office (Ft. Worth) and the Travis County Sheriff's Office (Austin). While in Texas, Ron was also very active in the insurance fraud arena and served as a senior investigator with Texas Farm Bureau. The author's law enforcement career consisted of a variety of jobs: working patrol, a general assignment's detective, along with a tenure as an undercover investigator in the Vice, Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit. Ron's duties also encompassed an array of supervisory assignments, ranging from a Field Training Officer to the rank of Major. After a rewarding career in Texas, Ron returned to his home state of Missouri, where he was elected the Pulaski County Sheriff. The author recently retired from law enforcement on January 01, 2017, at which time he returned to Texas with his family, and is now enjoying his new career as a full-time author and educator. During his 37-year tenure in the criminal justice profession, Ron received numerous individual awards relating to law enforcement and insurance fraud, along with serving as a member and elected officer to a multitude of professional organizations and governmental boards. In 2016, the author had the privilege of being a Merit recipient of the American Police Hall of Fame. Ronald Long has also written articles for numerous professional publications and media outlets, along with authoring the following two books: -The Devil's Elbow Project (Crime Novel) -The Demise of a Texas King (Crime novel)
