Author Information

Formerly a research engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Public Health Service, James M. Symons is now a professor of civil engineering at the University of Houston. He holds a doctorate in sanitary engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and an honorary member of the American Water Works Association.
