Overview

This book is geared to help elementary school teachers (grades K-5) that have not taken science as a course in either long time, or have had a bad experience with a science course that turned them off to the idea of incorporating science into their own educational curriculum. The chapters of the book are written in easy to follow manner and offer short diagrams and flow-charts to help with comprehension of the major ideas about how to do science, that can be used for a reference for teachers trying to formulate a way to teach the ideas of what science really is to their students and how to garner the students natural curiosity into teachable moments for both student and educator via the basic principles of science and scientific investigation. It attempts to provide a simple reference for teachers whether it is the first time in the classroom or have had many decades of experience. And is designed to assist elementary school teachers (grades K-5) through the principles of how to do science in order to teach science (as opposed to read and regurgitate) including a explanation of the major steps of the scientific method and then sample lesson plans and experiments that can be used to teach the basic principles of science and each of major disciplines of science. It includes a list of sample experiments and internet resource links for additional experiments and areas where students and teachers can be encouraged to expand their own scientific knowledge.
