OverviewThis is a collection of 251 proverbs (91 illustrated) from Kannada, a South Indian language with a 2000- year literary history and cultural heritage. ___ Tonse Narayana Krishna Raju, a pediatrician and a neonatologist, who was Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois in Chicago, has published five books of fiction and two translations in Kannada, a classical Dravidian language from Karnataka, South India. In addition to his passion to study and teach history of medicine, Dr. Raju is extremely fond of proverbs. He has studied and published articles about Jewish, Arabic, Irish, and African proverbs. This is his first translation of South Indian proverbs into English. He is currently working on another volume on the same topic.
