The concept for 'Don't' look now....' was to steer away from rhyme and transport children into the world of their own imagination. By the use of alliteration the way of speaking when reading the book aloud consists of a series of short, separate staccato sounds enhancing memory in the recapitulation of the given letters. The unusual settings for each letter promotes creative thinking and mental agility through wittiness while enhancing challenging and critical thinking. 'Do Iguanas ice igloos? Julie Sharkey from Leigh, Wigan- An illustrator and graphic designer for 15 years and worked mainly in the greetings cards industry. Having produced illustrations for packaging, skateboards and textiles, Julie now produces bespoke artwork and designs. She is 52 and inspired to draw for this age range, pre-school 0-5 years having recently become a grandmother. Julie has illustrated this unusual alphabet book with stylised features on the characters and animals. Every illustration has materialised from pencil drawings then onto digital illustration to produce her unique style. Joanne Shepherd from Oswaltwistle, Lancashire- A keen writer, mother and sometimes actress, Joanne was frustrated in reading mainstream alphabet books to her daughter, nieces and nephews and would always give the characters voices. Having strayed from the storylines many times into her own imagination and making up weird and wonderful situations it seemed that her wild imagination and Julie's ability to capture it is the perfect partnership in this, their first adventure together.
