OverviewThis story is based on real situations; it is a result of a trip to Peru at the beginning of the present century undertaken by a Portuguese man having academic training in architecture, in the company of a Spanish writer and a Belgian doctor. It elaborates on the economic differences amongst the mid-level population, in the travellers' respective European countries, and describes the precautions a traveller needs to take in this type of place, as well as for tourists visiting Inca cities in the countries in the South American Andes that have specific environmental, natural, and atmospheric particularities. On meeting a couple of young caboclo guides, curiosity was born in the travellers to know how ancient civilizations had built great cities and manufactured huge stone blocks; this led the group to take the initiative to deviate from the tourist routes and explore the sites of ancestral quarries in search for answers, parallelly learning about the daily lives of the populations found on those routes and the social and economic life reality of the weakest populations and how they survived. However, with the outbreak of Covid-19, almost everyone succumbed to it; therefore, so as to not forget them, the memories of these trips have been recorded in this novel.
