Don't Ask Why: A Thriller

Overview

She hoped this girls' trip would help her heal. Instead, it just might kill her. Still reeling from her husband's death, Courtney joins her three best friends on a secluded island in the Florida Keys. But the getaway meant to bring peace quickly spirals into chaos. First comes a rumor about a woman who was recently killed on the island. Then the property manager is nowhere to be found. When a stranger shows up at the vacation rental and one of the friends goes missing, Courtney starts to wonder if they'll make it home at all. There's no Wi-Fi. No cell service. No way off the island for four days. But four days is too long to wait for help. If Courtney wants to survive, she'll have to fight for her life.

Reviews

""A gut-punch of a thriller ... Nelson delivers a relentlessly fast-paced, unputdownable read with a twist that blindsided me."" -AUDREY J. COLE, USA Today bestselling author PRAISE FOR STEPH NELSON ""Nelson knows how to draw readers in, clench their throats, and hold that grip until the twisty final scene."" -GREGG OLSEN, #1 NYT bestselling author of If You Tell, on Last One Out ""The success of dark narratives often hinges on their ability to generate empathy in readers, and Steph Nelson nails it. Equal parts touching and harrowing, this is the kind of story that makes us question how far we'd go to save those we love."" -The New York Times review of Make No Mistake ""Heart in my throat, jaw on the floor. This thriller will stay with me for a very long time. Nelson is a master of heartfelt page-turners, and this book is no exception."" -NOELLE W. IHLI, bestselling author of Gray After Dark on Make No Mistake ""Brimming with nail-biting suspense, twists galore, and full of heart-this is a page-turner that has absolutely everything you crave in a thriller."" -FAITH GARDNER, author of The Mirror House Girls, on The Final Scene ""Full of desperation, love, and loss, this is an absolutely chilling read. Few books have so captivated me."" -CALEB STEPHENS, author of You'll Never Know, on Make No Mistake
