Table of ContentsReviews.. a laudable attempt to put all the things you need to know into one practical volume. These issues listed are covered in a straightforward and coherent manner. --Financial Times .. a valuable reference source for any international company either considering going into China, or already there. -- China-Britain Trade Review It contains a mass of useful information on the country's foreign trade activity and also highlights both the opportunities and pitfalls of this complex but rewarding market. --Credit Management .. essential reading for those involved in financial services, corporate planners, entrepreneurs and all China's would-be trading partners. -- Business Executive This comprehensive reference presents extensive business as well as other general information about China. Organized in seven parts and with more than 30 appendixes, this new edition (1st ed., 1994, CH, Feb'95) completely updates information in the previous edition and takes into account China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO, December 2001) and recent major political leadership changes. (The book was completed before the SARS medical event and impact, however.) While the numerical information reported (2002 or 2001 latest year) does not reflect WTO membership, this volume does present excellent analysis of WTO's probable impact on China. Topics addressed in various sections include market entry and business development, economic performance, banking, foreign direct investment, major industry sectors, government structure, consumer markets, state-owned enterprises, taxation/accounting practices, intellectual property, and local/regional areas. The volume contains many short sections (mainly underten pages) of narrative information and implications related to China's full WTO status. It also contains more than 100 pages of useful names, addresses, and phone/fax contact information. Excellent for anyone considering business with China. Summing Up: Recommended. Academic collections, upper-division undergraduate and up; business, government, and large public libraries. -- J. W. Leonard, Miami University in CHOICE Author InformationJonathan Reuvid was engaged in the development of joint ventures in Northern China.
