OverviewThis is a book on God, gods and religion, written by an agnostic atheist. It began as a number of essays, written mainly for private use and for publishing in an atheist magazine. The author does not claim ownership of the ideas contained in the book, nor is there an assertion that anything here is original or unique, other than it being the author's own thoughts and opinions on well known and previously debated topics. The purpose of the book is not to cause offence and care has been taken to avoid anything inflammatory, as far as possible. Unfortunately, due to the subject matter, it is unavoidable, indeed even expected, that some people will be outraged by any challenge to their faith and the author therefore maintains his right to freedom of opinion and speech, whilst regretting any discomfort caused. It is the author's conviction that all ideas, regardless of source, must be open to debate and even ridicule, but such treatment should not be directed at individuals. This book questions the stories and ideas found in the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament and in the Quran. It investigates and comments on the teaching of Jews & Judaism, Christians & Christianity and Muslims & Islam and at no point does the author affirm or prefer any one of these above any other.
