Hillier is a graduate of McGill University and did post- graduate studies at Columbia University. She earned post-graduate degrees in English (MA) Law (LLB) from the University of Toronto. In addition to her certifications as a high school teacher and matrimonial mediator, she engaged in the practice of Divorce law for over 30 years in partnership with her daughter Ava, a personal injury lawyer, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. She was a highly regarded trial lawyer credited with several reported high court decisions. Although currently retired, she retains her interest in matrimonial law, still attending seminars and maintaining relationships with past clients. The mother of 3; the grandmother of 6 and the great grandmother of 2, she divides her time between Rancho Mirage, California and Caledon, Ontario.
