Overview

"Judith Mariner's life is a portrait of non-conformity and unique experiences. She wasn't like the other girls in the '40s. She reveled in the outdoors and played with the boys. She discovered yoga and vegetarianism long before they became fads. She faced abuse of every kind and a feeling of ""not enoughness"" with everything she attempted. In high school, she taught herself to play tennis and became the state champion-twice. Through tenacity and conviction, she followed her artistic passions from the streets of Venice, Italy, to the barrios of Tucson, Arizona. She didn't care where she lived or how she made money, as long as she could paint and provide for her children. No matter what obstacles she faced, she found a way to survive and thrive, never losing the fire in her belly."

Author Information

"Judith Mariner is an artist working and living in Tucson, Arizona. Judith grew up in Phoenix during the ""dark ages"" of the 1950s and survived. She attended the University of Arizona on a full scholarship and has a BA in music performance. She has lived in Northern and Southern California, New Mexico, and Europe. Judith's primary life focus is philosophy, metaphysics, and muti-dimensionality of consciousness. Her work is investigative and fueled by awe, longing, and divine discontent, which she believes are the handmaidens of creation and evolution. Judith's work exists primarily in private collections in New York, New Mexico, Texas, California, and Arizona. She is self-taught and has been a guest working artist at the Drawing Studio in Tucson. Judith also taught watercolor, oil, and drawing privately and at various parks and recreation centers while raising her two children as a single mom. Judith's work is not easily categorized. She covers a range from landscapes, portraits, psychological studies, and abstracts. For more information on Judith's work, please visit Judithmariner.com or email her at judithmariner@aol.com."
