Charles (Karl Wilhelm August) Blum Berlin, 1786; +Berlin, 2nd July, 1844. Blum's achievements in other areas of the arts prevented him from writing a more substantial body of works for the guitar, but with the guitar as his instrument of choice the works he left behind display a high level of technical skill both in the writing and in the physical techniques they infer. Indem Blum die Hymne 'God Save the King' zu seinem Thema machte, brachte er diese substantielle und fantasievolle Reihe an Variationen zu Papier, die Anerkennung und Neuaufnahme als echter Klassiker ins Repertoire verdient.
