OverviewWithin the Biblical Literature one encounters many characters which can be seen as figures of world literature. One possible reason for this could be that these figures deal with extreme situations in their life or that they adopt radical positions, which distinguishes them from established norms and worldviews. The contributions to this volume are the fruit of the meeting Outsiders, Dissidents and Discontents, as part of the research project entitled Religious Radicalism. These contributions are dedicated to figures and characters who are defined by their radical acting and thinking with regards to their own religious environments and social realities. In the focus are narrative figures and individuals who distinguish themselves from established norms and thereby leave the reader with sustained curiosity.
