Reviews

""Discover Youth is an invaluable resource for anyone dedicated to supporting young people. Bev's genuine passion for empowering youth shines through, offering practical tools and profound insights that encourage growth, resilience, and authentic connection. These are the skills I wish I had as a ""lost"" teen and young adult, and the understanding I needed to support my own children as they navigated their teenage years. As Bev says, 'anyone with a desire and willingness can make a difference. It doesn't matter where you come from or how unlikely a candidate you seem to be for influencing youth.' This book is a gift to all who are committed to inspiring and equipping the next generation. Thank you for all that you do to make a difference in this world. -Leanne Camilleri, Owner, Reset To Thrive Australia ""I would have loved to have Discover Youth as a guide when I began working with young people! Beverlee Wenzel weaves compelling, relevant stories from her decades of work with young people, the wisdom of a veteran practitioner, and tested positive youth development principles into an accessible, ready-to-use tool for anyone who works with youth. It moves beyond cookie-cutter curricula to the kind of dynamic, relationship-centered, strength-based approach that meets each young person where they are and walks with them on their journeys to become their best selves."" -Ben Houltberg, PhD, LMFT, President and CEO, Search Institute ""Equip, Inspire, Impact is what this book aims to achieve, and it does this and much more. A must-have resource for anybody that has a hand in shaping our youth. You start reading for the tips and tricks, you read again for the amazing stories of courage, resilience, growth and hope that Bev has lovingly weaved through to illustrate the importance of genuine care for growing these assets in young people across the globe."" -Kylie McLerie, School Principal, Educational Consultant, Youth Advocate, Australia ""In an era where the potential of our youth is both a beacon of hope and a pressing challenge, Discover Youth emerges as an essential resource for adults dedicated to nurturing the next generation. This insightful guide, rooted in over two decades of experience in youth development, offers a powerful toolkit that empowers adults to cultivate resilience, growth mindset, and a sense of belonging in young people. The author's journey from leading The ROCK Center for Youth Development to creating the transformative Discover You(TM) program is a testament to the impact of dedicated mentorship. With over 50 practical tools and tactics, this book not only illuminates the 'how' behind youth development but also reinforces the profound belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, even amidst adversity. Whether you are a teacher, mentor, coach, or community leader, Discover Youth is a vital resource that invites you to reflect, engage, and take action. It inspires us to not only equip our youth with essential skills but to also cultivate our own personal growth in the process. I wholeheartedly endorse this book as a guide for anyone passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of young people. Together, let us champion the potential within every youth, ensuring they have the tools to not only succeed but to navigate the challenges they will face with strength and resilience."" - Janice Kershaw, President & CEO, Brevard Schools Foundation
