I was so very encouraged then and still am by his Biblical, Christ-centered, and Spirit-empowered teaching. I am still using a number of the messages he taught many years ago. I am honored to have been given the opportunity to read Discipleship Preaching before print and to endorse the work. This book by Dr. Finley is the culmination of a lifetime of his deep walk with God and faithfulness to His Word! Although titled Discipleship Preaching, it is evident that this work is useful and applicable not only to the preacher but to any sincere minister and Christ follower. Each chapter is full of insightful teaching that will help to equip the reader in his spiritual journey. Discipleship Preaching is a great gift to the body of Christ. May you be blessed and inspired as you thoughtfully read with an open heart and pen in hand! Thomas W. Weakley Ed.D., Western Kentucky UniversityCru/Faculty Commons Staff, Bowling Green, Kentucky When the pulpit falters, the pew fails. One of the greatest needs of our generation is the return to Biblical preaching. Discipleship Preaching sets forth the strategic principles so that Biblical proclamation once again is heard from God's pulpit. The heart cry of this book is for the preacher to be the voice of God instead of the echo of current events! Read this book and apply the Biblical principles contained within it and your preaching and your prayers will have new definitions! I wish I had this book sixty years ago! Dr. Malcolm McDow, Senior Professor of Evangelism (Ret)Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas Discipleship Preaching marries two important subjects that are viewed separately way too often. The serious Biblical challenges in this book are matched by very practical insights concerning preaching to make disciples. It provides specific Biblical steps for planning subjects for preaching with related areas of Scripture. Just as important is the thrust that the preacher must be a disciple himself preaching a life-message that comes out of personal prayer, study, and a real experience with God. The book comes from the heart of a servant of the Lord who is committed to expository preaching and to helping pastors both to be fruitful in their labors and to finish strong. If you are merely looking for a book to spice up your sermons, this is not a book for you. But, if you have a sincere concern about the gap between preaching and discipleship, this concise volume will be a help and a blessing!
