Chip Flynnstone - How to Get Started in Land Investing Great book on a topic I knew nothing about: land investing. Mr. Blast makes it accessible, comprehensible, do-able. Step by step, thoroughly, with tips galore, what you should watch out for, how to maximize what little money you may have, how to work the info and resources available (most of them online, at your fingertips), what you need, what you don't need, the tricks of the trade, the tools of the trade. Mr. Blast has a story to tell ... the learning experience of how he got into land investing. Realizing he didn't fit in the high-maintenance residential/commercial real estate box, he had to think outside the box. It's also the story of land investing itself: requiring little money, no employees or overhead, it's the punk rock, indie lo-fi DIY of real estate. I'm always drawn to business, real estate, and finance books because, well, money is a big deal. After a side comment my realtor made when I bought my current house, I've been thinking more strongly about real estate investing and have been reading a lot of books on the topic. But, this book literally blew me away! I had never considered this type of real estate investing before. I assumed that I would buy houses and become a landlord, which is what my realtor was doing. But I absolutely love, love, love what this author shares in this book. The book is practical and hands on, and you can tell the author is experienced in exactly what he is talking about, and he shares his knowledge with us. When I get into real estate investing once my job situation stabilizes, I am going to practice what this author states in this book. Again, I rarely make this sort of comment, but I truly feel like the scales have been taken from my eyes, and I have learned something that will be paying dividends for years.
