This coloring and activity book is broadly divided into two sections. The bulk of the book is the coloring section, which also includes connect-the-dots puzzles as well as very simple mazes. A much shorter section at the end focuses on words, specifically word searches and word scrambles. The dinosaur illustrations are mostly of the simple and realistic kind, although most dinosaurs do seem to have big eyes and appear to be smiling. Most dinosaurs seemed like they were very specific species, so it would have been wonderful to see the names of each one on the page. Little ones who love dinosaurs usually love to geek out on the name. A few pages have tiny mazes. Honestly, they should have made bigger mazes on a single page because the seven- or eight-year-olds will be bored that it only takes them 5 seconds, if that, to do these mazes. The connect-the-dots pages usually have around 30 dots that need to be connected for the dinosaur; there is a full background behind the figure. The word scrambles come before the word searches, and I thought that some words in this section didn't really have much to do with dinosaurs. That might make the word scrambles, in particular, hard to figure out. An interesting note, which the authors don't say, is that the word searches that have the same letter, like Dinosaur C, will have some, but not all, of the words of the word scramble of the same letter. So that might be helpful. All in all, if you have a child who enjoys dinosaurs, she or he may enjoy this coloring and activity book. As an adult who loves coloring books and dinosaurs I think this is a winning combination. The books pages are 8 1/2 by 11 and the pictures and activities cover the full page. The images are clean and not fussy. The book is composed of a combination of coloring pages, connect the dots and word games. The word games use words connected with dinosaurs and answers are provided at the back. I think the recommended age group (4-8) should enjoy this. I am tempted to try a few of the coloring pages myself.
