Overview

Diet to Detox came about after first helping my children to regain health. I then started helping my patients. I've realised during this time that having a healthy gut is crucial to our wellbeing. Symptoms of chronic ill health such as fatigue and aches and pains are due to chronic inflammation. Where does chronic inflammation come from? An unhealthy or 'leaky' gut! So, if we correct the gut, the inflammation goes away. But how do we correct the gut? This is the big question, which leads to another question. Why did the gut get sick in the first place? The answer to this is Toxins! Toxins in our environment and in our food help to damage the gut. Dealing with the toxins is the first step on the road to recovery. Adding delicious health-giving fermented foods is the next step. I developed a step-by-step roadmap, to help my patients to embark on the journey back to recovery. Diet to Detox explains these steps in detail, so that you can take that journey yourself. The recipes at the back of the book will greatly assist you along the way.

Author Information

Dr Ese Stacey trained at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, qualifying as a medical doctor in 1990. She initially trained as a general practitioner before following her goal to become a Sport's Physician (a qualified medical doctor who specializes in sport). She worked with elite athletes in triathlon, football and rugby before opening a private practice in central London. After her 3 children were born, each with specific health challenges, Dr Ese began to realise that the medicine she had been taught through-out and after medical school was not helping to solve her children's issues. She discovered that the gut and food-borne and environmental toxins could explain many of her children's health issues. She began to look more closely at gut health and began to find that by using a gut and toxin-based approach, many of issues resolved. She began to use this knowledge to help patients attending her clinics - which were largely made up of patients of all ages with muscle, joint and tendon problems. After a while, she began to realise that an unhealthy gut and toxins play a role in most chronic diseases including, chronic aches and pains, fibromyalgia, fatigue, osteoarthritis, auto-immune disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression. In order to help people to understand the link between the gut, toxins and ill health, Dr Ese set up her website www.doctorese.com. Diet to Detox complements the website by bringing that information, plus additional background material, all together in one place. The Diet to Detox protocol is made up of 3 steps which are clearly described in the book and the recipes relevant to each step are also given. All in all Diet to Detox provides a step-by-step approach, assisting the reader on their journey to wellbeing.
