English summary: The purpose of this work is related to a lecture on the famous Mappamundi of Fra Mauro (c. 1450), famed for its discursive character, and seeks to reconstruct the strategies and criteria of authoritative evaluation and the associated development of a depiction of the world. Fra Mauro was not obliged to develop his map according to a paradigmatic worldview, but rather he cataloged a variety of alternative interpretive possibilities and therefore the cartographer created a discursive cartographic space, which did not yet include the New World. At the same time, the transition of cartographic assessment of the world is described in a moment, in which various perspectives and their cultural background were not divorced from an empirical approach in representing the geographic horizons as accurately as possible in equal measure. Unspoken philosophical premises stand behind Fra Mauro, which are worked out in the matter of this investigation, on the basis of which a new level of observation is introduced in the mappamundi genre and its cultural background. German description: Die Arbeit zielt auf eine Lekture der beruhmten 'Mappamondo' Fra Mauros (um 1450), die auf deren diskursiven Charakter abhebt und die Strategien und Kriterien der jeweiligen Autoritatsevaluation und der damit einhergehenden Weltbildgewinnung zu rekonstruieren versucht. Ohne kartographisch einem paradigmatischen Weltbild verpflichtet zu sein, katalogisiert Fra Mauro immer wieder eine Vielzahl alternativer Deutungsmoglichkeiten. Damit schafft der Kartograph einen diskursiven Kartenraum, der die neue Welt noch nicht festlegt. Zugleich wird der Ubergang der kartographischen Erfassung der Welt in einem Moment beschrieben, in dem verschiedene Betrachtungsweisen und deren weltbildliche Hintergrunde noch unentschieden von der Empirie in ihrem Geltungshorizont gleichberechtigt auftreten und undogmatisch dargestellt werden. Dass dahinter seitens Fra Mauros eine unausgesprochene philosophische Pramisse steht: Dies herauszuarbeiten ist das Anliegen der Arbeit, die insofern eine wirklich neue Dimension der Betrachtung auf die 'Mappamondo' und ihre weltbildlichen Hintergrunde eroffnet.
