Johann Most (1846 -1906), bekannt auch als John Most, war ein sozialistischer Redakteur und Politiker der Sozialdemokratischen Arbeiterpartei (SDAP), dann der Sozialistischen Arbeiterpartei Deutschlands (SAP), bevor er sich schliesslich zum Anarchismus bekannte. Er war Herausgeber der Zeitschrift Freiheit. Most war uberzeugter Atheist und Kirchenkritiker. Er war Organisator der ersten grossen Kirchenaustrittsbewegungen. Die Gottespest, die am weitesten verbreitete Schrift von Most, ist eine atheistische und kirchenkritische Schrift, die in viele Sprachen ubersetzt wurde.
