Wege der Totalitarismusforschung.: Politischer Messianismus: Die romantische Phase

Overview

English summary: The second volume is put under the leitmotif political messianism covering a wide range of political ideas of the 19th century. The outstanding trilogy by the Polish historian Jacob L. Talmon (1916-1980) who taught many years until his death the history of totalitarian democracy at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem became the most influential interpretation of the history of ideas. His findings were groundbreaking for the reconstruction of intellectual history in totalitarian ideology in the 20th century. In the first volume Talmon discusses the origins of totalitarian democracy in the 18th century.
