OverviewThe first half of the 20th century was a period of profound upheavals for Austria: two world wars, several changes in the political system including the temporary loss of state independence, economic and currency crises and accelerated technological change led to massive social changes. Each of these aspects has left its mark on the country's education system and thus influenced the development of the Vienna University of Technology. The present volume traces the most important lines of development for the history of the Vienna University of Technology from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the First Republic and the corporate state.
