Overview

The history of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Management is just as old as that of the Vienna University of Technology. According to its dedication, the then k.k. polytechnic institute established a close connection with industry and trade and, from the beginning, dealt in particular with topics that today would be assigned to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Management. In line with technological progress, the research topics and teaching areas were subject to constant change, which in some cases could certainly be described as revolutionary. This commemorative volume gives, on the one hand, a historical overview of the developments in the faculty and, on the other hand, it takes up prominent aspects with a focus on the last 50 years in the form of highlights of the faculty's development.
