OverviewIn 1983 I was enrolled as a mature student at Newcastle University to study English Language and Literature. During that time at the end of every term, I had anonymously posted under each of the lecturer's doors in the English Department that term's section of the Diary. I hadn't told the faculty when I had been enrolled that I had been a student at the university before and had dropped out ten years earlier. When they did find out two years later, I was called into my tutor's office. Robert Woof was at that time the chairman of the Arts Council Literature Panel and my adopted son was going out with his daughter Emily. It was an embarrassing moment. My future hung on Doctor Woof's decision on whether I should be thrown out or not. This is the poetic story of the ninety weeks of study of an English student at university and how I succeeded!
