OverviewThis book offers insight, encouragement, and a sober warning to anyone in danger of falling into a similar trap. For those who have already endured this tragedy and now live beneath the weight of guilt or shame, I trust Duane's testimony will strengthen your resolve-not only to reclaim your name, character, and future, but to remain free. My hope is that as readers engage Duane's story, many will find help, many will find healing, and all will be set free-from themselves and from self-destructive behaviors. Above all, may God receive every ounce of glory that emerges from Duane's courageous sharing of his personal testimony. Duane exposes his misplaced ""hope"" when he admits, ""I was hoping she would forget about me."" He also reveals that he ""debated"" too long with the enemy instead of exercising wisdom and immediately ending certain conversations with ""Jezebel."" Only Duane can explain why he hesitated, and why his love, dedication, and talent for coaching basketball placed him in such jeopardy. We must never entertain conversations-especially when our spirit already senses danger. Delay only serves to mark our character for destruction. As I read Duane's testimony, I reminded myself to remain non-judgmental and to listen for his heart as he unfolded his story. Rarely are we granted access to another believer's private wrestling in matters this serious. Transparency always carries consequences, yet Duane's intent is unmistakable: he seeks honesty with himself and honesty with his readers. Still, I suspect I will not be the only one to wonder why he delayed in obeying James 4:7: ""Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee."" I choose to believe his discernment was simply not as strong then as it is now. When discernment is slow, we risk tolerating the enemy far too long. In that space, our adversary strategizes relentlessly, working to destroy both us and our testimony.
