Sapphire Madison makes jewelry with healing gemstones. She lives in Chicago. Pink is her happy color. Jack Buckingham retrieves stolen artwork and jewelry for the UK government. He lives in London and wears designer black with skulls on his ties. Sapphire is 35, and voluptuous; Jack is 40, buffed, and gorgeous in a James Bond, edgy, posh British way. Sapphire is supposed to be meeting Jack's brother, Sir Mercutio Buckingham, whom she met on-line at an art symposium, but illness cancels their meeting. Jack becomes her proxy date.
