Overview

After twenty-five centuries of rapid human evolution, dialogue has now come to be a word and concept of daily use in the media and a theme of discussion all over the world. In this current period of our human history, the centuries-long struggle for survival and our belligerent confrontation with each other is being replaced by a new era of collaboration in dialogue. The most intriguing aspect of this new dialogue is that the interfaith conversation has extended worldwide within the past fifteen years. Author Information

As a young man, Lucien Cosijns spent 14 years in Japan as a Catholic missionary. In 1965, he believed, it was futile to try to convert people to Christianity, and he left missionary work to become a businessman. When he retired from business life in 1997, he became a voice in the interreligious dialogue movement with his final aim being the creation of a United Faith Communities Organization that, as discussion partner to the United Nations Organization, could become a one-voice moral forum of the world faith communities.
