OverviewThis manuscript deals with the question of dialectical argumentation in Blaise Pascal's Pensée. Argumentation and dialectics are two similar disciplines. There is a close link between the two. In fact, both present themselves through the intermediary of discursive form. Ever since Plato, Aristotle and even Zeno of Aeneas, argumentation has been understood to mean, first and foremost, arguing against an opposing position in a regulated polemical dialogue. And for centuries, dialectic has referred to logic itself. We tried to present the different meanings of argumentation and dialectics, and then took the example of Pascalian argumentation to study it in all its details (argumentation through the balance of opposites, the reversal of pro to con, antithesis, the art of paralogism, antithesis). Lastly, we highlighted the different types of discourse (direct reporting, indirect reporting, free indirect style, polyphony) and their communicative purpose.
