This book Diagnostic Veterinary Ultrasonography: Principles and Practice is intended for the beginner-ultrasonographers in the veterinary and animal Sciences, particularly for those veterinarians who are involved in providing services to large and pet animals. In India, ultrasonography of animals is hampered by PC PNDT act, a law that prohibit sex diagnosis in human. Under this act, there is strict regulation for the movement of ultrasound machine at farmers doorstep. This regulation also covers ultrasound imaging by veterinarians in India.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Chandolia graduated from College of Veterinary Sciences, Haryana Agricultural University (H.A.U.), Hisar in 1982. He completed his M.V.Sc. degree from same university in year 1985. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada in year 1996. His academic service started in the year 1985 as assistant professor in the department of Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics, H.A.U. Hisar and got promoted as Associate Professor in year 1998 and to the rank of professor in the year 2006. He served officer of the university as Professor and Head of Vet. Gynaec. & Obstetrics dept; Regional Director of RVDEC, Director (HRM) etc. He also served as Dean of several Veterinary college of the Country viz. SG Veterinary college, Sriganganagar; RPS college of Veterinary Sciences, Mahendergarh, MJF College of Veterinary Sciences, Chomu and Ramkumari Veterinary College, Mukundgarh. He was awarded DAAD fellowship in 1988 and then postdoctoral fellowship in the year 1997 at University of Florida, USA and then in 2005 in Germany. He has visited several countries viz. Australia, Finland, France, Germany, UK, USA. During his Ph.D. he got training on ultrasonography at University of Saskatchewan under eminent Professors viz. R.A. Pierson, N.C. Rawlings, R. Mappletoft, Greg Adams and many more. Dr. Chandolia initiated ultrasonography trainings in India on national level in the year 2004 and subsequently in 2008. He trained veterinarians of several states in India. He delivered lead papers on ultrasonography in ISSAR Conventions and International conferences. He was invited to delivered special lectures by other universities for trainings of veterinarians. The images given in the book are mostly from his ultrasound lab. Dr. Prem Singh is B.V.Sc. & A.H and M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. He had his postdoc experience from UK. He served H.A.U Hisar and Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences as Assistant, Associate and Professor. He had been dedicated clinician and got 17 awards from various institutions. He served as Director of TVCC, LUVAS. Dr. Prem Singh worked tirelessly to diagnose the clinical cases using ultrasonography. His students worked on various aspects of surgery using ultrasonography and produced good images provided in the current book. Presently, he is serving as Dean, IIVER, Bahuakbarpur, Rohtak.
