Overview

This is a highly-illustrated, practical textbook covering all aspects of diagnostic pediatric pathology. This reference work specifically addresses those pediatric surgical pathology issues that are of most importance from a practical point-of-view for both general and pediatric pathologists. In the same way that general pathologists will refer to specialist texts for reporting of adult liver biopsies, renal biopsies, etc, this book will provide similar support for the pathologic reporting of pediatric specimens and will enable the user to identify the histological features of lesions/diseases peculiar to the pediatric patient, be able to formulate an appropriate differential diagnosis, and understand the morphologic and clinical laboratory tools available to reach the correct diagnosis.

Reviews

''This much-needed, comprehensive, yet concise, book marshals the broad field of pediatric surgical pathology into a single volume that offers rapid access to information for surgical pathologists in their day-to-day work. It also targets pathology residents, providing the structural framework of information that trainees need to build a solid knowledge base in pediatric pathology. The audience includes pediatric pathologists and general pathologists who are responsible for signing out pediatric surgical specimens.'' Daniel John Lalich, M.D. (University of Kansas Medical Center) ''The book contains more than 1,000 color illustrations, which clearly were carefully chosen to best represent key features of the entities discussed. In a book of this nature, image quality is critically important, and most of the photomicrographs are beautifully done. In addition, gross images, color diagrams, and electron micrographs are included where appropriate. One of the pleasures of this book is its practicality. Written by pediatric surgical pathologists for diagnostic pathologists, the tone reflects a fundamental understanding of the demands and challenges imposed upon modern surgical pathologists.'' Bruce R. Pawel, MD (The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) A single-volume work which represents a welcome addition to the very short list of textbooks in surgical pediatric pathology. Written by authoritative, eminently qualified pediatric pathologists from the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, the textbook is richly illustrated with 1557 photographs (1484 in full color) and current across the broad range of topics covered. The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, August 2011 Highly?recommended to pathology departments involved in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, [...] a must have? for those with pediatric pathology fellowship training programs. For those in general pathology practice who encounter pediatric pathology l
