OverviewNeuropathology is a subspecialty of anatomic pathology that is concerned with the study of the diseases of nervous system tissue, with the aid of surgical biopsies and autopsies. This field is closely associated with the clinical domains of neurology and neurosurgery which refer to neuropathological results for making a diagnosis. If a neuropathy is suspected and less invasive methods cannot deliver a diagnosis, a biopsy of nervous tissue from the brain or spinal cord is taken to aid in the diagnosis. When a mass is detected by medical imaging, a biopsy is generally requested. The post-mortem diagnosis of dementia and other conditions of the central nervous system is also within the scope of this field. This book includes some of the vital pieces of work being conducted across the world, on various topics related to neuropathology. While understanding the long-term perspectives of the topics, the book makes an effort in highlighting their impacts as a modern tool for the understanding of neuropathy. It will serve as a valuable source of reference for graduate and post graduate students in diagnostic pathology.
