She completed her PhD at the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2004. She has conducted research, written, and trained practitioners on the application of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to individuals with chronic and terminal illness. She is a peer-reviewed ACT trainer, and a coauthor of The Diabetes Lifestyle Book, a self-help book applying ACT principles to the management of type 2 diabetes. Glenn M. Callaghan, PhD, is associate professor of psychology at San Jose State University and a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and Western Psychological Association. She is an internationally recognized expert in functional analytic psychotherapy and functional assessment methodology. Steven C. Hayes, PhD, is Foundation Professor in the department of psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. An author of forty-four books and over 600 scientific articles, his career has focused on an analysis of the nature of human language and cognition, and the application of this to the understanding and alleviation of human suffering and the promotion of human prosperity. Among other associations, Hayes has been president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.
