OverviewDemographic trends show a clear shift from a young to an ageing society. This is seen as a problem in public debate. This book explains the neighbourhood concept and presents it as a suitable tool for counteracting this problem. It also addresses the question of what structures need to be created in order to implement a neighbourhood concept in a community with approximately 3,300 citizens. The first part of the book explains the neighbourhood concept and then uses the example of the municipality of Leogang to show what concrete steps and measures are necessary to implement it. The main conclusion is that society must think on a much smaller scale and more locally than before. In the case of Leogang, it became clear that the community already has many good approaches in place, but that there is a lack of networking between the individual parts. The analysis of the current situation made it possible to identify development potential and specify concrete fields of action, as well as to draw up an action plan for the community of Leogang.
