Mahogany L. Browne is a writer, an organizer, and an educator. She is the author of several poetry collections for adults, including Kissing Caskets and #Dear Twitter. Her books for children and teenagers include Black Girl Magic and Woke Baby, the companion book to Woke. She is the artistic director of Urban Word NYC and has received literary fellowships from Agnes Gund, AIR Serenbe, Cave Canem, Poets House, and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. She is a winner of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, the Michael L. She is a National Poetry Slam champion and holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Maryland.
